I am a life-long maker - first it was knitting, then sewing, and now I also dabble in embroidery!
I love knitting because it is creative, fun, challenging, interesting, beautiful, and connects people all over the world.
Yarn Over Everything is not only a passion project, but also a career for me! I do this through teaching, designing knitwear, sample making, tech editing, ghostwriting, and grading patterns, and leading knit-alongs through my very own Discord server.
Knitting is what fills me with the most joy, confidence, and creativity, so yeah I guess you could say I'm obsessed.
I grew up in Western NY, very close to Lake Erie and Chautauqua Lake. I love Western NY so much, and still visit home as much as I can. There are lakes, grapes, beautiful nature, wineries, and wonderful people!
Now I live in Pittsburgh, PA. I moved here after college, and over the last 12 years have built my own little community!
I live in the same neighborhood as two of my best friends, with my partner and our pets (Stitch, Wooly, and Purl - yeah, had to stay on theme). I have a house that requires a lot of love and attention, and have created quite the little home for myself!
Oh man. WORK, you know?
I've bopped around quite a bit, and am still figuring it out.
I have an 8-year tech career (where I've dabbled in front-end development and web design) but my heart wants to pursue knitting full time, somehow, some way.
I spent about a year and a half being self-employed but it ended up not being the right time. So now I'm juggling a full-time corporate job with YOE.
I'm building something I'm really proud of, and hope that in the future I'll have a fulfilling, flexible job that aligns with my interests and values.
When I'm not working, I spend time with my family (including my adorable niece who I love so much), hang out with friends, go on walks along the river, listen to audiobooks, find new ways to cook tofu, pickle everything, spend a lot of money at my local coffee and ice cream shops, craft with several different groups, knit, sew, embroider, garden, and cook plant-based meals.
